New York State law requires that all dogs over four months of age must be licensed. Groton License Fees: $10.00 if spayed/neutered, $18.00 if not. Required documentation: Valid rabies certificate and spay/neuter certificate (if applicable)
What you need to know about Dog Control: Beginning on January 1, 2008, the Town of Groton will no longer contract with the Tompkins County SPCA for Dog Control. Do not call the SPCA for dog-related issues after this date as they will no longer respond within the Town & Village of Groton. Dog control will be provided by:

Who will be providing Dog Control? We are pleased to announce that the new provider for Dog Control in the Town and Village of Groton will be Country Acres Pet Services, a well known and respected service provider. For the first time, Groton will now have 24-hour service, 7 days a week for not only sick or injured stray dogs but also other stray, dangerous and nuisance dog control issues. Country Acres Pet Services will also continue to provide “talk to owner” calls and/or visits on nuisance complaints; issue tickets for complaints and unlicensed dogs; investigate dangerous dog charges; and generally enforce Article 7 of Ag & Markets Law and the Town of Groton Dog Control Law.
